It doesn't get much better-
drawing on a warm-quiet day,
when the cool May air rustles the leaves
and makes you want to live forever.
Against the white page,
when glossy apples
fall like snow from the trees,
reach out and pick a pencil
before the apple moves.
Then make a wish
There is so much to ask for-
a stunning stallion,
a grass green emerald,
or a blood red ruby.
Yet all you'll wish for
is another spring day,
just like this one,
and one more
pocketful of pencils.
Beautiful and real. What poetry should be.
ReplyDeleteanother spring day is a nice thing to get.. and you made me think about the pocketful of pencils. Good writing should make you think..
